PROLONG THE LIFESPAN OF YOUR HAIR EXTENSIONS

The lifespan of hair extensions, depends on the aftercare it receives. a Definitive lifespan can not be guaranteed on any type of hair extensions due to it being a natural consumable product. However Extensionaire Hair Extensions do come with a 60 Day manufacturer guarantee.

We don’t recommend any silver shampoos (other than our Diamond Silver Shampoo and Fanola Now Yellow) as other brands may damage the hair, affecting the lifespan of your hair extensions. We also don’t recommend any permanent colour on hair extensions; any colouring of extensions is done entirely at your own risk. Light blonde coloured hair extensions may have a shorter life span due to the colour treatments. Lighter shades will also require more care and less heat application to increase their lifespan.

Wash your hair extensions no more then twice a week with Extensionaire Haircare Series. Excess washing and styling may damage the cuticle and decrease the lifespan of your hair extensions.

Take care of your hair extensions as you would your own natural hair and remember that like your natural hair, your extensions can be easily damaged with excessive heat and over use of products.

Everyday Care

Washing Hair Extensions

Before you wet your hair extensions, always brush from the ends and to roots/scalp. This is to ensure that there will be no knotting of the hair when you wash your hair.

Be sure to use a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner as normal drugstore hair care products can dry out your hair extensions. Tape extensions should be washed no more than twice a week.

Wash your hair extensions in a downwards motion, allowing the water to flow from roots to the ends of your extensions.

Gently massage the scalp ensuring you reach underneath each extension bond/weft.

Your Conditioner needs to hydrate and add moisture to your hair extensions. Conditioner and any other moisturizing oils only need to be applied from the neck area down. We advise to deep condition your hair extensions every second week as this will prolong the life of your hair extensions.

DO NOT towel rub your hair extensions as this will cause friction damage. Gently press the towel against your hair. section your hair down the nape of your neck and massage two pumps of oil/leave-in conditioner into the hair.

Using a WET brush, gently brush your extensions from ends upwards. IMPORTANT! Hair/extensions can stretch up to 30% its length when wet. So take extra care when brushing wet hair extensions.

*Only use Extensionaire approved product on your hair extensions! We have formulated our own hair care series that includes a shampoo, conditioner and silver shampoo for use with your hair extensions that is free of sulphates, parabens and amonia. Nourishing your hair extensions while maintaining the beauty of your natural hair.

*Your hair can be washed 48 hours after installation of tapes/bonds. Weaves/NBR can be washed immediately.

Clip-in/ Ponytail hair extensions don’t get as oily like your natural hair as they are not attached by your scalp and therefore don’t need to be washed as often as tapes.

Clip-ins/Ponytails can be washed every 15 wears, depending on how much product you use on them. Before you wet your extensions, always brush from the ends and to roots/scalp. This is to ensure that there will be no knotting of the hair when you wash your hair.

Fill your sink with luke warm water, one squeeze of shampoo into the water and wave the water around to ensure the product is evenly dispersed. Hold the top of the wefts in one hand, dunk them into the water and gently work the shampoo into the hair with your fingers with light strokes. Empty the sink and rinse the wefts till the water runs clear.

Take a generous amount of conditioner and apply on each bundle of wefts from top to bottom, massaging the product thoroughly into the hair. We recommend leaving it on for at least an hour or overnight. Rinse out each weft thoroughly and be sure to use cold water on the hair for the last 10 seconds – this will help close the cuticles of the hair, sealing in moisture and making the hair extensions sleek and nourished.

Drying & Styling Hair Extensions

You should brush your hair extensions throughout the day to avoid any natural knotting. Letting your hair extensions dry naturally will prolong the life of your hair extensions as it will not be damaged by excessive heat Your hair dryer and heat tools should not exceed 180°, this is to prevent any water in the cuticles from boiling and forming blisters on the hair shaft.

We strongly advise that you use a heat protection spray on your hair extensions. Keep in mind that it can become very easy to over product you hair extensions and this is when they can become drier, start matting and even start breaking. This is the direct result of using too much product or high concentrate of iron levels in running tap water.

Hair extensions are not for the wash-and-go lifestyle, you need to heat style them for that sleek and soft finish.

Clip-in & Ponytail hair extensions dont necesaraly have to be heat styled every wear as you un-clip them before bed and can store them as they are and clip them in the next morning.

Bedtime for your Hair Extensions

Extensions should be brushed out, starting from ends to the scalp and a 100% dry, especially at the bonds before going to bed.

NEVER sleep with wet hair extensions! Doing so will cause matting of the hair.

Put your hair in a top bun or loose plait before hitting the sack.

A Silk pillowcase or hair cap will be a great investment.

We advise that you remove your clip-ins/ponytails before bedtime and store them neatly on your hair hanger for the night.

FAQ

Thin to medium hair will need 2-3 packs of our seamless tapes. Thick hair will need 3-4 packs of the seamless tapes.

Our extensions are coloured with a multi-tonal adapt coloring system, which means that there are subtle highlights and lowlights, lighter strands and darker strands throughout each set. This gives the shades movement, dimension, and depth. It also ensures that the hair extensions blend with your natural hair even if your hair color is a few shades off.

Extensionaire hair can be coloured, our hair is 100% human hair; all methods can be dyed. Only use semi or demi permanent hair dye on the extensions. Always colour darker, never lighter.

Colouring your hair extensions is done at OWN RISK, we suggest that you do a strand test before colouring all the extensions.

YES! You can swin with hair extensions, but please do take care!

Before you go swimming, wet your hair extensions and apply a leave-in conditioner or moisturizing oil. Apply this as close as possible to the top of the tape/bond without actually applying any to the tapes/bonds. Avoid long exposure to chlorine and salt water. Immediately after swimming rinse your hair extensions at the poolside shower or bottled water. It is advised that you wash and deep condition your hair extensions the same night you went for a swim in salt or chlorine water.

Swimmimg with clip-in hair extensions may be tricky as you would add weight to the clips and tug at your folicles causing discomfort, or worse a weave floating in the water. If you do end up at the poolside or the beach with your clip-in extensions we would advise that you tie them in a high bun.

Your Shampoo and Conditioner MUST be sulphate free! Extensionaire Haircare Series is free of sulphates, parabans, protein and keratin.

It is important to check the ingredients of any hair product that you use on your hair extensions, as products may state that it is sulphate free and can then be packed with protein/keratin. Even though protein and keratin works wonders on our natural hair, the effect on hair extensions are the complete opposite.

Lock in moisture and ensure your hair extensions are truly nourished by applying a small amount of REDKEN Diamond oil to dry or wet hair.

Keep hair protected from heated tools by using a heat protection spray on both dry or wet hair extensions

Nourish and revitalize dry hair extensions with the WELLA Oil Reflections Luminous Reboost Mask.

Extensionaire tape is extremely durable and will last for the duration of its 6-8 week wear (as long as the scalp does not become excessively oily, the bonds will stay) Our tape is of high quality and strong. You can swim, workout and go on vacation, and not have to worry about your extensions slipping.

Extensionaire seamless tapes can last up to 6-9 months with proper aftercare. Clip-in hair can last 16- 24 months with proper aftercare.

For the best color match we advise that you have your hair matched at one of our registered salons, otherwise you can send us a message on WhatsApp with a picture of your current hair colour and desired look.

Colours may vary on computer monitors. We have our own unique colour system, meaning; just because you are a No.4 on another brand, doesn’t mean it will be 100% the same with Extensionaire.

Extensionaire has a 60-day guarantee on manufactured defects.

So what exactly is considered a manufactured defect! A defect is when the hair lacks quality and does not perform as it should. Should a defect arise, it will do so after the first few washes. As defective hair will not be able to perform as that of top quality hair. The hair will become coarse and dry within the first two weeks. *Fading colour is not a sign of a defect, hair colour may fade over time due to excessive heat use or washing with products containing sulphates.

Spotting poor maintenance signs;
Shedding/breakage will occur from midsections to ends. Reasons for shedding – your extensions need more moisture, your brush is tugging at the hair causing it to snap, heat damage is causing the hair to snap. When picked up early your extensions can be restored.
